Getting started

RaioPDF opens a PDF from your computer and gives you what you need to read, organize, edit, and prepare it — all on your own machine, with no account to create.

Open a PDF

There are two ways:

  1. Drag a PDF onto the window.
  2. Click Open a PDF and choose one from your computer.

The start screen shows "Open a PDF to get started." Once you're working, the Open button in the toolbar brings up another file at any time.

If a file won't open, RaioPDF offers to repair it — some PDFs are built in unusual ways, and a repair pass usually fixes them.

Find your way around

  • The toolbar across the top handles the basics: open, save, print, moving page to page, zoom, and search.
  • The Tools panel on the left is grouped into Edit, Organize, Comment, and Legal, with Make Searchable (OCR) on its own.
  • Select is your normal reading mode — the plain pointer. When you're done with any tool, click it again or press Esc to return to Select.

Saving your work

Tools change the document you have open; nothing is written to your disk until you Save. Use Save As to write the changed version to a new file and keep the original untouched.
