Callout

Callout lets you add a short note that points at a specific paragraph, figure, signature line, or other spot on the page. When you save, the callout becomes a real PDF annotation.

How to do it

  1. Choose Callout, from the toolbar or the Annotate tools.
  2. Pick text and leader-line styling if you want something other than the defaults.
  3. Drag the text box.
  4. Click the page spot the arrow should point to.
  5. Type the note, then press Enter to place it (Esc to cancel).

What to know

  • Drag the box to reposition it; the arrow stays put. Move the text box anywhere and the leader line re-points from the box's edge to the same target.
  • Resize it from the corner handles once it's selected.
  • Right-click a callout (or any annotation) for quick actions — Pin, Delete, and Edit text.
  • Pin it to lock it. Click the pin badge in the box's corner to lock a callout in place — a pinned callout can't be moved and lets clicks pass through to whatever's underneath, so it won't get in your way. Click the pin again to unpin.
  • Remove it with the ×. An unpinned callout shows a small × next to its pin; click it to delete the box and leader together. Unpin first to reveal the ×.
  • It's held until you Save, then saved as a PDF annotation.
  • Print markup controls printing. Leave Print markup on to include saved callouts when printing, or turn it off before saving new callouts.
  • Flatten markup makes it permanent. Use Flatten markup when you want the callout baked into the page.
  • Prepare for Filing asks first. If saved RaioPDF markup is present, filing offers to flatten it or keep it live before continuing.
  • It behaves as one pending edit. Undo or remove clears the text box and leader arrow together.
  • Reorganizing pages clears unsaved callouts. If you rotate, delete, or reorder pages before saving, callouts you haven't saved are cleared — save first.
