Text Box

Text Box lets you place your own text anywhere on a page — a note, a label, a fill-in on a form that doesn't have real fields. When you save, the text box becomes a real PDF annotation.

How to do it

  1. Choose Text box, from the toolbar or the Annotate tools.
  2. Pick a text color if you want something other than black.
  3. Click where you want the text.
  4. Type it, then press Enter to place it (Esc to cancel).

What to know

  • It's held until you Save, then saved as a PDF annotation.
  • Drag to move it; the corner handles resize it. Select the box first.
  • Pin it to lock it. Click the pin badge in the box's corner to lock the box in place — a pinned box can't be moved or edited and lets clicks pass through to whatever's underneath. Click the pin again to unpin.
  • Remove it with the ×. An unpinned box shows a small × next to its pin; click it to delete. Unpin first to reveal the ×.
  • Print markup controls printing. Leave Print markup on to include saved text boxes when printing, or turn it off before saving new text boxes.
  • Flatten markup makes it permanent. Use Flatten markup when you want the text box baked into the page.
  • Prepare for Filing asks first. If saved RaioPDF markup is present, filing offers to flatten it or keep it live before continuing.
  • Reorganizing pages clears unsaved text. If you rotate, delete, or reorder pages before saving, text you haven't saved is cleared — save first.
